The Transformation of Spinningfields

From a narrow street that originally ran from the River Irwell to Deansgate, the Spinningfields area has been transformed.

More than £1.5 billion has been spent over the last couple of decades to open up and simply alter the whole landscape of this part of town.

Spinningfields is now a vibrant business and leisure district in the city of Manchester in the northwest of England.

The area is located on the south bank of the River Irwell and is home to a number of high-rise office buildings, luxury apartments, hotels, restaurants, bars, and shops.

A mixture of entrepreneurship, financial hardship, and a change in the global economy have helped develop Spinningfields - it was originally going to be office blocks, but some ended up not being built and the area was opened up.

It now equates to around 35% of the overall office space in the city, as more and more buildings are constructed and developed.

Of course, all this new construction does need to blend in with the history and heritage of this wonderful city and that can be demonstrated clearly with how it fits with the old John Rylands Library on Deansgate.
